Liam Hemsworth

Liam Hemsworth
Josh Hutcherson had been lobbying hard to win the role of Peeta in “The Hunger G
ames.” Looks like that effort paid off.
Lionsgate issued a news release Monday announcing that Hutcherson — who played Laser, son of Julianne Moore and Annette Bening in “The Kids Are All Right” — will star opposite Jennifer Lawrence, previously cast as the female protagonist Katniss, in the adaptation of the popular young-adult novel by Suzanne Collins.
Still unfamiliar with who Peeta is because you haven’t read the “Hunger Games” books? Let’s let Lionsgate provide some clarity:
“Peeta accompanies heroine Katniss Everdeen into the 74thannual Hunger Games as the male tribute chosen from their native District 12, the most remote and marginalized district of all the subjugated districts of Panem,” the news release explains. “At the outset of the Games, Peeta publicly confesses his longtime feelings for Katniss, setting up one of the most fascinating fictional rapports of all time with his supposed arena rival.”
All clear now, right?
In related news, Liam Hemsworth — a.k.a. the Actor Formerly Known as the Boyfriend of Miley Cyrus — has been cast in the role of Gale. As the news release emphasizes, Gale and Katniss “share a transcendent bond, often of few words.”
