Record Store Day

Record Store Day
In 2007, a group of music enthusiasts founded Record Store Day as a way to celebrate and promote the nation’s 700 or so independent music retailers, the ever-shrinking ranks of brick-and-mortar, locally owned stores that primarily sell music. The annual event is Saturday, April 16.

Participating stores offer an array of special vinyl and CD releases and promotional products made available exclusively on Record Store Day; many stores also host performances by musicians who understand the culture and importance of music retailers.

Local participants on Saturday include the Louisiana Music Factory, Jim Russell Records, Odyssey Records, Peaches Records, The Mushroom and Skully’z Recordz.
