Pilar Pilapil |
Initial investigation showed the actress, 60, was found bloodied and pleading for help at a grassy lot in Piedra Blanca, Barangay Luis, Antipolo City, around 11 p.m. on Thursday.
Prior to this, authorities said Pilapil and a female companion, identified as Roselle Rosalem, were on board a gold Kia car cruising along Barangay Barangka in Marikina City when two armed men blocked their path at the Riverbanks at around 9 p.m. Thursday.
Police said Pilapil, who was crowned Bb. Pilipinas-Universe in 1967, was stabbed repeatedly when she attempted to fight it out with the suspects.
The men then commandeered the vehicle towards Antipolo City where they later dropped off Pilapil and Rosalem.
Residents in the area took Pilapil to a nearby hospital after they saw her begging for help.
The actress was initially taken to the Antipolo District Hospital before being transferred to the Medical City in Pasig where she is now recuperating.
The chief of the Eastern Police District (EPD) said yesterday manhunt operations are now under way for the men who stabbed Pilapil and carjacked her vehicle.
Chief Supt. Francisco Soria Manalo Jr., EPD district director, said the Marikina City Police Office under Senior Supt. Gabriel Lopez is presently conducting a followup operation for the immediate arrest of the suspects.
Manalo said a flash alarm has been sent to nearby police stations in Metro Manila as part of efforts to neutralize the carjack suspects and to recover the stolen car.
"As of this time, our policemen in Marikina City are conducting an investigation regarding the incident," Manalo said. "A follow-up is now being conducted to immediately solve this," he said.
Lopez said Pilapil's husband temporarily begged off to be interviewed by police investigators.
Bernie Penas, a friend of Pilapil, told police that he and the actress parted ways Thursday night around 7 p.m. at the Robinson's Galleria.
Penas said he was surprised when the Antipolo Police called to inform him that Pilapil was dumped and found bloodied somewhere in the city.
Pilapil won the Bb. Pilipinas-Universe crown in 1967 and went on to represent the country in that year’s Miss Universe. Her daughter Pia Pilapil is also an actress.
