Busch Gardens Williamsburg

Busch Gardens Williamsburg

Jon Cawley reported that the first Clydesdale foal was born at Busch Gardens Williamsburg . I think this may be a misstatement. The park officially opened in 1975 and I was employed in the zoo-department then .I seem to remember a pregnant mare being brought to us specifically to foal at the new stable. If you go back to your archives to 1975, I believe there is an article and pictures of the new foal.

Editor: Your specific details sent us on an exhaustive search. I'd like to thank not only Jon Cawley who searched our non-digital archives, but Kevin Crossett of Busch Gardens who contacted several Busch employees who oversaw both the Clydesdale program and the zoo. Crossett discovered that a mare did give birth to a foal at Busch Gardens in the mid-1970s although park officials didn't have an exact year of the birth.

Crime in Gloucester

I am really pleased with the special section of news concerning Gloucester-Mathews. However, I am extremely disappointed that you chose to spend one-third to one-quarter of the page listing crimes in Gloucester. We really don't need that kind of publicity. We like the good things that you're doing, listing the student of the month and all those things that are worthy and important. Please, please, please eliminate that crime page.

Pollen file photo

•What a great job on the pollen on Friday. However, the picture of the car, how old is that picture? It shows an expiration sticker of '07.
