Brett Favre |
"It hurts people who didn't ask to be involved in my life and put in the spotlight. It hurt my family," Sterger told GMA in the portion of the interview that aired Wednesday, as she held back tears.
Favre, a married father of two, allegedly sent Sterger nude photos and left her voicemails begging her to get together with him when he played for the Jets in 2008 and she was employed by the team as a sideline reporter.
Sterger said the attention she received after Gawker sports blog Deadspin broke the story turned her life "upside down." She says her sister, who works as a nurse, had to endure strange remarks like, "Oh, you're related to Favre Girl."
"It's my sister," Sterger told ABC. "What's she supposed to say?"
Since then, Sterger says she has been trying to rebuild her career. "I haven't made a dime off anything in this whole situation," she told ABC in a previously aired portion of the interview. "Not from the pictures. Not from Favre. That was never an intention of mine."
She also explained her reasoning for giving the interview was for herself and her family.
"This has nothing to do with Brett Favre. It doesn't. I just want people to know me. And to know that I'm not a gold digger. And I'm not a home-wrecker," she said.
