Alex Rodriguez

Alex Rodriguez
Alex Rodriguez returned to the lineup Wednesday night, the minor left oblique injury no longer an issue for the third baseman.
A-Rod, who was lifted from Saturday's game in the seventh inning, sat out Sunday and Tuesday before going 0-for-2 with a sac fly and two walks last night.
"No problems," Rodriguez said. "Definitely a big relief."
Rodriguez slid head-first into second base on a failed stolen-base attempt in the third, a sign his side was not bothering him.
"I was thinking about it before I stole, how I was going to land the plane - feet-first or head-first," Rodriguez said. "Instincts took over. It was pretty good."
A-Rod also added the role of interpreter to his résumé, translating for Bartolo Colon when Joe Girardi came to the mound to talk to the pitcher in the seventh inning.
"I completely messed up the translation," Rodriguez said. "When Joe came back the next time, I said, 'Joe, this is what he said.' He said, 'It's too late - he's been out of the game for an inning and a half.' It was a little too much pressure."
HUGHES THROWS
Phil Hughes threw 30 pitches in his first bullpen session since going on the disabled list last week with a fatigued arm, and while he said he felt good, he admits he won't know where he stands until he pitches in a competitive game.
"I think I'll be able to judge it off one game whether I'm where I need to be," Hughes said.
