2012 Honda Civic |
The 2012 Civic HF gets a 140-horsepower 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder engine and a five-speed automatic transmission and starts at $20,205, including a $750 destination charge. The HF model gets an additional 5 percent better fuel economy than a similarly equipped 2012 Civic sedan.
The base 2012 Honda Civic DX sedan will start at $16,555, including a $750 destination charge, the same price as the outgoing 2011 Civic DX, said Honda on Wednesday at the 2011 New York Auto Show. That puts the Civic at a slight price disadvantage versus the 2011 Toyota Corolla, its closest Japanese competitor. The base Corolla starts at $16,360, including a $760 destination charge. Expect to pay $24,205 for a top-of-the-line 2012 Civic EX-L sedan with navigation and XM satellite radio.
Honda said that 2012 Honda Civic pricing reflects "a sales-weighted increase of approximately $33 or 0.17 percent across the entire lineup."
Pricing on the redesigned Civic came on the day when the average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline in the U.S. stood at $3.83 per gallon, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge. That makes pricing on the most fuel-efficient versions of the Civic even more critical. The 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid starts at $24,800, including shipping — reflecting a $100 price increase over the 2011 Civic Hybrid. But pricing was not announced on the 2012 Civic Natural Gas model, which debuts in the fall on a nationwide basis as opposed to just four states for the previous model. Honda says the Civic Natural Gas will deliver an estimated 27 mpg in city driving and 38 mpg on the highway.
Honda held the line on pricing on the base 2012 Civic Si sedan. The 2012 Civic Si sedan starts at $23,155, including shipping, the same as the outgoing model. Similarly, Honda held the line on pricing on the base Civic Si coupe. The 2012 Civic Si coupe starts at $22,955, the same as the outgoing model.
